Mercato – OL: A coach’s long career and failure revealed

While OL is hoping to take advantage of the winter moving window to continue the team’s good momentum at the end of 2023, the futures of two players have been revealed.

Lyon are a little better. Lost for much of the season, the club, coached by Pierre Sage, is now 15th in the French championship, twice as many as 17th, Toulouse, after 3 consecutive victories: Toulouse, Monaco, Nantes. It’s time for the winter move-in window, which will open on January 1, 2024.

The OL opposes separating the tactics of seven members of its team, while recruiting in defense and midfield.

As it turns out, Alexandre Lacazette isn’t going to leave OL for sure this season. According to data from L’Equipe, the 32-year-old, who has struggled this season (Fabio Grosso has rarely put him on the bench), but not on the sporting side (14 games, 7 goals) aims to save his educational club from relegation to Ligue 2.

Tied at Lyon until 2025, the former Arsenal player will reflect on his long career next summer, at the age of 33, when the striker will only have one year left on his contract. But not before. The general had already indicated not long ago that he wished to stay.

For its part, the Olympique et Lyonnais website, very aware of the news of matchday 15 of Ligue 1, indicates that Paul Akouakou’s failure is not going away. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder, recruited in the Laurent Blanc era, nevertheless has a remarkable period of play: 6 appearances, 3 as a starter. But it’s a FIFA regulation point that helps keep the Ivorian at the OL: the player has played for two clubs this season (Betis, Lyon) and can’t do it with a third.

Transferred for €3 million on September 1, 2023, Paul Akouakou will be a Lyon player until the end of the season. For the future, however, nothing is less certain.
