As announced today by several French media, Stade Rennais goalkeeper Steve Mandanda extended his contract with Stade Rennais for one season on Monday.
The former Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper, who is going through a more confusing season in Brittany, is now tied to the Red and Blacks until June 2025. Steve Mandanda reacted without delay to the official website of Stade Rennais: “I still need to do it. I feel good. I am very satisfied to be here. I need to settle the acceptance I have in leaders. I don’t really think about longevity. I go out to enjoy every moment and not think about the future. I didn’t think I’d get this far, but the situations are good to continue,” said the former France international.
The Rennes quarterback, closer to the end of his career than the beginning, enjoys every moment. “I’m making sure I’m still here today. As long as you’re satisfied with getting up in the morning, spend educating yourself and playing at the end of the week, it’s because you still need to and you’re having fun. The goal is to keep doing it and win as many games as you can imagine with Stade Rennais. I hope there are smart things to come,” he continued.
The club’s president and CEO, Olivier Cloarec, also commented with genuine enthusiasm on the contract extension: “It is a real satisfaction to extend Steve’s contract. From day one he has adapted perfectly to our assignment and continues to demonstrate great maximum performance. He is an example for the work he does every day and the positive mood he has. That is why it is a logical and natural decision, and a joy to be able to count on a player of his stature. ” Said the Rennes manager.
