There will be enthusiasts at the Miami Dolphins and University of Miami football games in the fall, while officials announced Monday a plan that would allow 13,000 fans to attend the games, a resolution that comes after South Florida spent most of the summer as one of the United.States.coronavirus hotspots.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, along with local and team leaders, made the announcement at a news convention Monday at the outdoor Hard Rock Stadium, where the governor answered questions from reporters.
The number of legal enthusiasts will be well below the overall stage capacity of around 65,000, but the amount may be higher if additional progress is made to involve the spread of the coronavirus.
Masks will be required to attend matches and more public fitness measures will be implemented, such as banning the use of heels, taking food orders through an app, and postponing beer sales at half-time.
Florida, and the state’s south in particular, has experienced one of the worst coronavirus outbreaks in the United States this summer, however, there have been symptoms of improvement in recent weeks.
Monday marked the smallest increase in instances in two months, while the check positivity rate fell to about 5%, a fraction of the state’s peak, which once reached more than 20%.
The opening of the Dolphins’ home is scheduled for September 20, while the University of Miami Hurricanes will open their variety of homes on September 10.
Hard Rock Stadium is scheduled to host the National College Football Championships in Playoffs on January 11, 2021.Right now, this game is still scheduled, but there are main questions about how to play it as primary meetings like Big Ten and Pac-12 canceled their seasons.
“If you’re the one who doesn’t need to wear a mask, this is not the position for you,” said Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel.
NFL groups must make their own participation plans this season, and decisions vary greatly from team to team.Lately, a part of the league plans not to have enthusiasts in the season’s rookie stands, however, many of those groups are open to expanding their seats later in the season.But some groups, such as the Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders and the Washington Football Team, have no plans for enthusiasts to attend the games in 2020.
