Despite Big Ten’s announcement Tuesday that he postponed the fall 2020 season in favor of a spring season, the volunteer regimen of Michigan’s football program will continue as a general for the foreseeable future.
A program spokesman showed with The Michigan Insider that the U-M program continues volunteer practices, meetings, and camp strength and conditioning sessions under the 20-hour rule for the foreseeable future. The spokesman said the soft green had been given to management through the Big Ten.
Under NCAA rules, all workouts, meetings and other fall sessions would possibly not exceed 20 hours consistent with the week with student-athletes.
U-M head coach Jim Harbaugh aired on a Tuesday, a day after advocating for an fall season, saying his show was disappointed with Big Ten’s resolve to postpone the fall season.
“Our students-athletes and coaches need to compete,” he reads. “They have committed, trained and prepared their whole lives for this opportunity, and I know how disappointed they are right now. Percentage of his sadness today. We have shown during the weeks since our return to campus that we can face the challenge and offer our student-athletes the opportunity for an autumn football season. Our football team, our training staff, our support staff at Schembechler Hall have mobilized, followed all regulations and did their best to give everyone this opportunity. proud, grateful and grateful for our team and the way they have led and represented our program and our university.”
The resolution to postpone the fall season comes less than a week after the convention published its 10-game convention calendar only, and the Wolverines are scheduled to open the season on September 5 at the house opposite Purdue.
