Mikel Arteta calls Liverpool 17-year-old Arsenal striker ‘unplayable’

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has prepared his players ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool.

A huge top-of-the-table clash awaits at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp‘s Reds and Arteta’s Gunners lock horns for the chance to go (or stay) to the summit.

At present, just one point separates table-topping Arsenal and third-placed Aston Villa, who could go top as they play on Friday night.

On Friday, Arsenal’s media team released photographs of their players training, and one of Hale End’s more sensible talents, once back, appeared at Colney’s session.

Myles Lewis-Skelly photographed in possession of the ball, as Emile Smith Rowe prepares to challenge him on Colney’s field.

The 17-year-old midfielder has been a regular in Arsenal’s training sessions and has also played a vital role for the Gunners’ under-21s.

This season, Lewis-Skelly has made 12 appearances as a youth point guard and came off the bench against Brighton last time out, unlike Nice in the Champions League.

Arsenal youth coach Jack Wilshere sung the youngster’s praises back in April, describing him as a “top kid” when speaking to The Athletic.

Last year, Arsenal’s youth team expert Jeorge Bird wrote on his blog that Lewis-Skelly is “without a doubt one of the club’s most talented teenagers and has great potential. “

It’s great to see Arteta continuing to give the youngster time in training with the seniors. This suggests he’s holding his own, and perhaps familiarising himself with surroundings and players that he’ll be playing with in the next couple of years.

Lewis-Skelly is yet to make his senior debut for Arsenal, but it’s really only a matter of time before Arteta decides to give him minutes, perhaps in the FA Cup or Championship towards the end of the season.
