Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has advised Football. London that Thomas Partey can return to the fight against Newcastle United.
Arteta shared the news following Arsenal’s 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion away from home at the Hawthorns in the Premier League on Saturday night.
It’s the Gunners’ third straight league win and puts them back in the race for European spots.
Arsenal will return to action next Saturday when they face Premier League Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.
Arteta told Football. London de Partey: “Well, he hasn’t fully trained with us, but more commonly he has been in education in the last few days. He wants two more practice sessions to see if he is fit to play. He feels smart and we will assess whether he is 100% ready to play [against Newcastle]. “
The Spaniard added on Arsenal’s official online page when asked if Partey would be like a new signing: “Absolutely. It’s January and I think he plays two games and one part! He is our main firm so we miss him.
“He brings anything else to the team and he’s a very talented player, but he’s also someone who can reshape the team in any way we want. If we can have it and keep it healthy, it will make a positive contribution.
Good for Arsenal fans
Partey was injured against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby in December and has not played since, as Football London reported.
The Ghanaian defensive foreign midfielder, who joined Spurs from Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2020, has been in recent days.
Partey is a very defensive midfielder who inspired Arsenal fans when he played.
The return of the 27-year-old will only make Arsenal bigger and more powerful in the middle of the park and increase their chances of completing in the top 4 on the Premier League table this season.
