PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has just joined Rome from Arenal, explained why leaving the Premier League for Serie A is “the right decision” and why “football in Italy is underestimated”.
After his loan, the Armenian alien terminated his Contract of Gunners by mutual consent to enroll in the Giallorossi as an indefinite agent.
“I had in mind to play well and help the team and then, at the end of the season, see if we can come to an agreement between me, Rome and Arsenal so that I could stay here permanently,” he told Rome’s official website: according to Football Italia.
“I am very pleased to be here now. I think I took the right resolution, the right resolution for me and my career, and I look forward to the season here.”
The 31-year-old has Borussia Dortmund, England with Manchester United and Arsenal in Germany.
He thinks Italy is underestimated.
“Before I came here, I heard a lot of people saying that the league isn’t smart enough, that groups aren’t smart enough…but I can say they’re completely wrong. From the first game I had, unlike Sassuolo, I learned that Italian football is more than we’re talking about.
“I was inspired by the quality of the players, even in the lower groups, they have the right players. And all groups need to have the ball, they need to attack, they don’t just protect and they expect the parties to the conflict to make mistakes.”Instead, they look to play football, enjoy the game and earn points.
“For me, it was awesome because I didn’t expect such a smart football point from all the teams.I love playing football here in Italy and I feel like a smart game against all the other teams.
