ROME: Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan (pix), who spent last season on AS Roma, will leave with the Italian capital after the two clubs agreed on a permanent move, announced on social media.
Arsenal, on his website, said on Monday night that he had agreed to terminate Mkhitaryan’s contract by “mutual consent to allow him to register in Rome as part of a permanent transfer. “
The duration of his contract with Rome was not specified and the fees were not disclosed.
The 31-year-old Armenian, who scored nine goals and gave six assists in his first season in Italy, said he was “delighted” with the decision.
“I love the city #Roma, I love this club and I count the enthusiasts in my heart. I will give each and every effort to help us achieve our goals!” he tweeted.
Mkhitaryan joined Manchester United Gunners in January 2018, scoring goals and assisting them in the 2019 Europa League final.
He played for Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Dortmund.
