Monaco sack Roberto Moreno as manager with ex-Bayern boss Niko Kovac lined up to replace him

And for L’Equipe, former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac is expected to replace the French team.

Moreno replaced Leonardo Jardim in December, while Monaco was seventh in the standings.

He came out with the team in ninth place, 28 editions of Paris Saint-Germain, crowned champion when the French season was interrupted by the Pandemic of Covid-19.

Monaco Vice President and Ceo Oleg Petrov told the club’s website: “Our paths are breaking up sooner than expected, but I thank Robert Moreno for accepting the challenge.

“With his team, Robert did his best for the team with enthusiasm and dedication. I wish him all the most productive for the future.”

Kovac fired Bayern in November and has not played any football role since.

Speaking about his departure at the time, the 48-year-old said, “I think it’s the right resolution for the club right now.

“The results, as well as what we played last time, led me to make that decision.

“My brother Robert and I have been thanking Bayern for a year and a half. In the meantime, we won the championship, the DFB Cup and the Super Cup.

“It’s a good time. I wish the club and the team the best of luck.”
