The Blue Jays are now heading to Buffalo, New York, where they will play their best house games at their partner Triple-A across the Niagara River from Canada.
Toronto’s first game at Sahlen Field is Tuesday night off Miami. The Blue Jays have been prevented from playing in Toronto this year through the Canadian government due to fitness issues related to the coronavirus, and so far have been on tour for each and every game.
The Blue Jays have a day off on Monday, however, manager Charlie Montoyo said the team invited the stadium to take a quick look at the changes, adding new lighting.
“We haven’t noticed them either,” Montoyo said. “Let’s give players a chance to see if they need to see what it looks like.”
Boston starter Nathan Eovaldi pitched six innings, allowing three runs and six hits, adding two home runs. But he received a clever tackle from his bullpen, which kept the Blue Jays goalless and goalless for the rest of the game.
Tile opener Matt Shoemaker also lasted six innings, dropping two runs and allowing the run to score for a pitching error.
Moreland advanced to Boston 1-0 at the start of the moment, with Shoemaker’s lead over the center wall of the area for his fifth home race of the season.
Cavan Biggio tied in the third, jumping on an Eovaldi cutter that slid over the plate and connected his fourth house race of the year in the middle.
Boston regained the lead in the third when Shoemaker covered Alex Verdugo’s floor ball and attempted to throw a double play. Instead, he threw the ball past shortshorsed Bo Bichette and midfield, allowing Jackie Bradley Jr. to score in the second.
Teoscar Hernandez of Toronto had a double in the fourth and scored with a single with two outs by Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Bichette hit a house run over Eovaldi in sixth position on a line in the centre to take it to 3-2.
But Devers tied him in the Boston entrance, pushing a shoemaker on the first lead over the center draw fence for his best race of the season.
