Moretto: Juventus are the club that decided to sign the young revelation from Bologna

Italian football journalist Matteo Moretto identifies Juventus as the club that is making the maximum effort to get the signing of Riccardo Calfiori.

The 21-year-old joined Bologna this summer after a spell at Basel.

After starting his career as a left-back, the youngster was replaced as a centre-back under the tutelage of Thiago Motta.

Roma’s youthful product has been seamlessly incorporated into the Italian-Brazilian tactical system, acting as a central defender with a license to advance and in the preparation phase.

In his column in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, Moretto confirms that Juventus are very much at Calafiori’s service.

The Bianconeri have shown more intent than any other suitor as they hope to add the promising Italian defender to their ranks for next season.

The journalist points out, however, that it is still inopportune to expect a long career from the player at this stage.

But with the season he’s having, we can expect him to work for a bigger club sooner or later.

In addition to the Bologna defender, Juventus are keeping a close eye on Rossoblu coach Motta.

Many see the 41-year-old as the Bianconeri’s top target should they share tactics with Max Allegri at the end of the campaign.

Motta’s arrival may give the Old Lady an extra edge in her quest for some of Bologna’s most valuable assets, adding Calafiori.

This season, the defender has made 24 appearances in Serie A and provided some assists.
