Real Sociedad are reportedly in the process of drawing up a plan to keep Mikel Merino, who now has a move target for Juventus.
The 27-year-old began his career in Osasuna’s youth academy before embarking on successive spells at Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United between 2016 and 2018.
He then signed for Sociedad and since then he has been polishing his team in San Sebastian.
The midfielder now has a key player at the club in addition to being a Spanish international.
However, the expiry of Merino’s contract in 2025 has La Liga sweating.
According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are among the clubs interested in the Spaniard.

As the source explains, the Society is determined to keep Merino in its ranks. The two sides have now set a new date to discuss a possible contract renewal.
However, the Spanish club are aware that retaining the player will be an easy task given the growing interest in his services.

Unless he signs a new contract, the Spanish foreigner could end up leaving the club this summer for a small fee, or as a free agent in 2025.
