Move deadline LIVE as Rangers, Celtic, Hearts and Hibs negotiate: Gers checks exit and Cortes as Van Veen decides

The end of the Scottish moving window is in less than THREE hours.

That means Scottish Premiership clubs have only until 11.30pm tonight to add to their squads meaning time is running out.

Celtic are expected to check out the signing of Adam Idah on loan from Norwich, with the striker arriving in Glasgow on the night.

Mikey Johnston and David Turnbull are set to leave, Gustaf Lagerbielke remains after the dramatic collapse of his move to Lecce.

Rangers have announced the signing of Óscar Cortés from Lens, and there is a definite hypothesis linking Ridvan Yilmaz to an exit from Ibrox.

Meanwhile, Rangers star Ryan Kent finds himself in Turkish limbo after a surprise move to Serie A giants Lazio fell through, and he subsidized.

Kevin van Veen however HAS got the move he wanted – and he’s back in Scotland – but will the Dutchman’s destination influence the future of Lawrence Shankland?

It’s the move-in deadline – all with us LIVE!

At least in England. . .

Here we have an additional hour to finalize the main points or agreements.

Will any teams push the boundaries and take it right to wire?

“It’s such a big club with such a wonderful history and I can’t even put into words what it’s like to be at Celtic.

“My circle of family and friends are thrilled that I’m here and I can’t wait to get started. We’re all Celtic at home, so it’s huge for me and I’m really excited to be here.

“I need to play games, I want this team and my goal is to win those two trophies and I want to score a lot of goals for this club. “

And there we have it!

Celtic have been keeping their cards close to their chest all day, only surfacing to see off Mikey Johnston on his loan move to WBA.

But the Hoops, despite everything, have shown the loan of Adam Idah from Norwich City, 24 hours after the Irish striker landed in Glasgow last night.

Million Manhoef is a regular link to the Rangers this month.

The Vitesse Arnhem winger was touted to be heading to Ibrox and then PSV according to various Dutch sources… but he’s pitched up elsewhere.

He’s signed for Championship side Stoke City in what is a bit of a surprise switch.

Sunsport’s own Kris Boyd has given his old club’s transfer business the seal of approval.

After Greg Stewart signed up earlier this month, Kevin van Veen arrived tonight and is a wonderful signing according to Boydy. . . who couldn’t make a cheeky little nod to his prolific seasons at Rugby Park covering the latest updates on Sky Sports News. .

It’s a wonderful deal: he’s Kilmarnock’s most productive striker in the last five years. . . Ever since someone retired!

It’s not injury time yet, we’re in the last hour and we’re part of this window of movement.

There’s time for a surprise!

But here’s what we’ve been waiting for: the expected offers indexed above.

Will we complete our list this evening?

And maybe we’re going to go higher?

We have to wait a long time to find out.

And that is the confirmation. . .

66 retweets in 36 seconds show how expected the news was!

Killie is teasing enthusiasts with today’s worst-kept secret.

We explained earlier how Kevin van Veen Ayrshire outplayed Paisley and that he would join Greg Stewart in the attack for Derek McInnes’ team.

And the negotiators at Rugby Park make it bigger with a series of teasing move previews. . . all in Scrabble.

P. S. If you ever had the tiles, “KEVIN VAN VEEN” would be worth 25 basis points in Scrabble.

Ross County is one of the busiest in the country when Derek Adams paints in Dingwall.

He has been scathing in his assessment of Scottish football (and open about the issues affecting the Staggies) since arriving at the club for his managerial term.

And he rebuilt his Ross County team tonight by signing Michee Efete.

The Grimsby full-back heads north until the end of the season and has previously played for the youth ranks of Crystal Palace and Norwich.

Elsewhere, Craig Levein sent loan signing Jay Turner-Cooke from St Johnstone back to Newcastle after making just six appearances in the early part of the season.

League One teams Queen of the South and Hamilton have taken steps to chase down leader Falkirk.

But the Bairns will feel it’s a successful start to 2024 if they can keep Calumn Morrison.

Accies have brought midfielder Jake Davidson in on loan from Inverness.

Meanwhile Marvin Bartley has signed Max Kilsby on loan from Carlisle.

Rangers’ new signing, Óscar Cortés, has opened up to Ibrox

I feel very honoured and privileged to sign for the Rangers.

“I heard a lot about the history and culture of the Rangers and had positive conversations with the manager, who told me that I could help the team achieve its goals this season.

“I’m really excited to join my teammates and get enthusiasts excited about my taste for the game. “

And that’s not all for Rangers fans.

Cortés arrives. Ridvan Yilmaz stands still.

SunSport understands Rangers rejected a temporary offer from Galatasaray this week.

And while the Turkish transfer window is still open, Gers have insisted that the full-back is not for sale.

It comes days after they rejected a mega-dollar offer from Nottingham Forest for goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Midfielder Jose Cifuentes could still move to Cruzeiro with the Brazilian transfer window still open.

Rangers accepted an offer from Turkish club Rizespor, but the player turned it down.

. . . Ranger!

Philippe Clément, however, has his man and the third member of his squad to be strengthened.

Gers enthusiasts saw Oscar Cortés dine during his move to Glasgow and are now hungry to see what he serves.

A Colombian winger, he has signed a loan deal until the end of the season with Ligue 1 side Lens with an option to buy this summer.

3️ ⃣ That’s for Gers this month after Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande.

? Two and a half hours left. . . Now let’s get into the business of moving this window!

But who’s next?

One from across the sea… former Partick Thistle defender Darren Brownlie has left Dundalk.

The Lilywhites showed their way out after games last season.

Will we see it soon in Scotland?

Celtic have shown that Mikey Johnston has gone on loan to West Bromwich Albion until the end of the season.

The winger will join the Baggies in the English Championship.

He’s been limited to just three starts and six more backup appearances this season for Brendan Rodgers’ team, but now he’ll have to impress in the South.

He told the club’s website: “I need to get out there and make an impact right away.

“The deal has been rumbling since the start of the window so I’m pleased to have done it. “

Motherwell’s new kid will be the 21st for the Steelmen

Stuart Kettlewell says he will bring “energy and enthusiasm” to the team.

He added: “Adam is a promising, young talent.

“He’s made appearances for the Rangers first team and he’s been a regular in the groups that day, which I think shows he’s very much appreciated by the Rangers.

“I hope it brings power and enthusiasm. It’s a possibility for him to present himself as himself at the moment and I’m looking forward to racing with him. “

It’s a wonderful club and everyone I’ve met has been excellent. The manager has sold the club and what he needs to do here and I’m looking forward to being part of it.

There it is – the first of the confirmations we have been waiting on!

And that’s as we told you before, Adam Devine in Motherwell.

Killie liked the Rangers’ scoreline, but he’s on his way to Fir Park on a contract until the end of the season.

He was listed as a conceivable Rangers target even before the window opened, but nothing took off.

Now Marcus Holgate has finished his loan contract at Southampton and will arrive at Sheffield United on loan from Everton.

He undergoes a nightly medical exam and may be joined by former Ger Joe Worrall.

The Ibrox flop became Nottingham Forest captain but has fallen out of favour at the City Ground – even banished from training with Scott McKenna late last year.

And the Blades have also been linked with a loan of the centre-back.

Everything calmed down a bit in the last hour, didn’t it?

But that doesn’t mean it’s over!

We will be waiting for several confirmations of delinquency of completed operations. . . And will there be a nightly delinquency curve?

We’re still expecting confirmation for…

Of course they could come at any minute, so stick with Sunsport!

Kilmarnock outbid St Mirren to Well’s former hitman, Kevin van Veen, on the deadline day.

And it’s possible that this weekend they will disengage the prolific striker opposed to his former club.

Killie and the Saints have reached a loan deal with FC Groningen for the former Steelman, who scored 29 in all competitions last season at Fir Park.

The 32-year-old had a selection between the two clubs, but SunSport understands Ayrshire managed to convince the striker to move to Rugby Park with a larger monetary package.

The deal is expected to be revealed later in the evening.

And in an ironic twist of fate, the striker could make his debut against Well at Fir Park in the afternoon.

Van Veen joined Motherwell in 2021 from Scunthorpe on a flexible transfer. He then scored 40 goals in total in 83 games and scored in 11 consecutive games to break a 103-year-old club record at Fir Park.

After one of Scotland’s deadliest strikers, he returned to his home Holland as part of a £500,000 move to Groningen.

The striker will now try to prove that he still has his boots after a disappointing spell in his home Netherlands.

There is no option to buy in the terms of the loan deal, which runs until the summer.

Not for now!

Night has fallen and we are in the final stretch of the January moving window.

Remember the belated signings of Robbie Keane and Aaron Ramsey?

Will we see a deal tonight after the deadline?

Celtic had been linked with Wolves left-back Hugo Bueno this morning, suggesting he had been rejected at Molineux.

And a last-minute change doesn’t seem likely either, as the defender is among the substitutes for Gary O’Neil’s side tonight.

They face Manchester United tonight and this week’s featured player, Marcus Rashford, is also involved.

With Greg Taylor injured, left-back was a dominance the club had been looking to strengthen, but they turned down contact with PSG star star Layvin Kurzawa’s opposite agent.

Aberdeen are looking for a new coach, but in addition to the CVs arriving in Pittodrie, the phone lines are bombarded with calls from SPAIN.

That’s for AS.

It is said that Leganes are determined to bring Duk to the La Liga Segunda department and have tried to melt down the Dons with a view to a signing.

So far, that hasn’t happened, with the Dons company attacking their attacker.

Interest in Bojan Miovski has been waning as the month progresses, but it has just intensified around his fellow strike member from the northeast.

But this one’s on!

As the deals start to fall apart, Hibs makes ANOTHER deal. . . and that’s a credit to the Bournemouth connection.

After reuniting with former Nectarios defender Triantis, he has also brought in Welsh Under-21 defender Owen Bevan on loan from Bournemouth.

And the Hibs boss admits the new link-up with the Cherries helped seal the deal.

He said: “Our relationship with Bournemouth has allowed us to take a close look at their young players, and Owen has been one of those who stands out.

“Having seen his loan spell at Cheltenham Town earlier this season, I was really keen to try him out and bring him in for the second half of this season.

“After a muscle injury forced him to return to Bournemouth, talks between the two clubs continued and we were going to close the deal.

“Owen is a young centre-back with wonderful attributes and attitude.

“He can play on both sides as a centre-back and right-back, which gives us a lot of intensity and festival in places. We look forward to racing with him. “

Twists and turns are part of transfer deadline day… but first it was Gustaf Lagerbielke to Lecce falling by the way-side.

And now it’s Ryan Kent’s deal which is OFF!

The former Rangers winger is set to make a sensational move to Lazio after being left out of Fenerbahce.

But it is claimed that this resolution failed at the time.

The editor-in-chief of Turkish outlet SportsDigitale, Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, has revealed that his chance at the Stadio Olimpico is gone. . . and it is HIS call.

Although Ryan Kent and his representative signed agreements between the clubs, they changed their minds at the last minute and the transfer was canceled due to the player’s side.
