MILAN (AP) – Napoli were defeated 3-0 in the Italian league on Wednesday and scored a point for appearing in Serie A against Juventus due to coronavirus cases.
Napoli did not travel to Turin for the Fourth of October adjustment and the local fitness government ordered the team to be quarantined after two players tested positive for coronavirus.
However, the league disciplinary committee ruled that Napoli had no valid explanation as to why to miss the game and had followed the existing COVID-19 protocol, which was accepted into all clubs before the start of the season.
He said the first orders from the local fitness government on 3 October did not prevent Naples from traveling to Turin and that the team was already in the northern city when new orders were placed the following afternoon.
The Italian league protocol for coronavirus cases is the same as UEFA rules: if a team has thirteen players available, adding at least one goalkeeper, the adjustment can continue.
