NBA groups eliminated from the playoffs will leave the Orlando, Florida campus after their final games, according to the NBA.
Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports initially reported the teams would leave Wednesday, Aug. 12, but the league clarified the Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention, will play Thursday, Aug. 13, and then leave the bubble.
Players will shower and eat before taking a bus to the airport.
The Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns still compete for the eighth and ninth Western Conference seed, with the two most sensitive groups in a position to play a series of play-ins on Saturday and Sunday. There will be no play-in series in the Eastern Conference with the Wizards more than 4 games from a playoff spot.
The six groups that entered the NBA reboot with the worst records, all stayed at the Yacht Club Resort, a lower quality hotel compared to Grand Destination and Grand Floridian, where other groups stay.
A quick withdrawal of eliminated groups may consolidate the league into a smaller bubble and reduce house prices for more than three hundred players.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported in the past that the bubble at Walt Disney World Resort would charge the NBA more than $150 million.
The playoffs will start on August 17 and end on October 13.
