Dani Ceballos said he “never had any doubts” in his brain to return to Arsenal, despite donations from Real Madrid and other La Liga groups to remain in Spain for the next season.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been inspired after being loaned by Madrid to Arsenal last season and has not hidden his preference to return to north London before the 2020/21 campaign.
Zinedine Zidane has kept Ceballos waiting for his long career before sanctioning a moment of successive transfer to the Emirates this week and the foreigner from Spain is evidently very happy to be back with the Gunners.
“I am very pleased to be back with Arsenal, where I had such a good time last season,” Ceballos told the club official after confirming his moment of assignment on Friday night.
“I am very pleased to have returned to a club where I feel important.”
Ceballos had several characteristics of choice at home in Spain, but insists that returning to Arsenal was his favorite resolution this summer.
“It is true that I had other options, such as staying at Real Madrid and returning to the Spanish league, where some took an interest in me,” he added.
“I spoke to the coach last year, before the FA Cup final, and told him I wanted to stay at Arsenal and win titles.I was satisfied with what Mikel [Arteta] had built at the club since I arrived.
“I had a good time at this club last season and never doubted that I was looking to return.”
Ceballos has a fan favorite with his performances in the colours of Arsenal, especially towards the end of last season, and admits that the love and appreciation he won from enthusiasts played a leading role in his decision.
“I think everyone will have noticed last season that since I arrived I completely hugged the club and gave 100 percent on and off the pitch,” Ceballos continues.
“Enthusiasts rewarded me for this by showing me a lot of love…when I got home, they would send me messages asking me to come back and saying they needed me here.
“I think they’ll be as satisfied as I am that I’m back and I’m sure we have a wonderful year ahead of us this season. When the coach, club, players and everyone else ask you to stay the year, you realize they see you as a smart teammate and a smart player.
“I’m proud that the club, the coach and, above all, the enthusiasts were looking for me to stay, I didn’t hesitate for a second.”
Arteta said he is “delighted” to have Ceballos back on board as the Gunners prepare for their first Premier League clash at Fulham on September 12.
“Dani was an integral component of our team last season and finished the season in the perfect way,” Arsenal’s head coach said.
“I love Dani’s love and commitment and he’s a very skilled player.
“We are very happy to welcome you back and look forward to seeing you continue where you left off.”
