Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou will lead his team in pre-season before deciding on potential new signings for the 2024-25 Premier League campaign. Spurs have welcomed a new face so far, but he may soon replace him as the north London side looks to build on a promising start under the former Celtic manager.
Postecoglou’s signings last summer blossomed at the start of last season, with James Maddison one of the standout players before he was injured and disappeared in the second half of the campaign.
His £43million capture of Micky van de Ven appears to be a cash burn after his impressive performances earned him plaudits from fans, and Spurs visibly got away with it after Harry Kane left for Bayern de Munich.
But Postecoglou will reportedly strengthen his squad this summer to build Tottenham’s 25-man dream squad, with 18-year-old star Archie Gray his only capture of the summer so far.
The Aussie manager has been linked with the signing of the striker after Son Heung-min’s targets ran out last season and he may be attracted to Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season.
He renewed Timo Werner’s loan from RB Leipzig for a second season, but the German played on the left wing.
He is also said to be a big fan of Eberechi Eze’s talent, as the Crystal Palace star will be signing for a bigger club this summer. Similarly, Palace have inserted a £60m clause into the 26-year-old’s contract, which we will possibly not lose success if chairman Daniel Levy approves the deal.
It is widely believed that Spurs will need to raise cash before spending gigantic sums on the moving market, and the opportunity to recoup the £60m spent on Richarlison would be too lucrative to pass up.
The Brazilian needs to stay in London, but he has scored just 16 goals in 66 appearances since his important departure from Everton in 2022, and with interest from Saudi clubs, he may be sacked from his post to make way for newcomers.
Giovani Lo Celso, who has struggled since his £55million transfer in 2020 and spent most of last season as a substitute, could sign him on his way out.

The Argentine is expected to be one of several players cleared through Postecoglou, Emerson Royal, Djed Spence and Bryan Gil. Jamie Donley, Ashley Phillips, Dane Scarlett and Alejo Veliz will be on loan.
The departure of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Marseille on a £16m loan is very likely to boost Spurs’ calendar in their moves in the market. Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has been on their shortlist for more than a year and the 24-year-old’s contract has entered his final year, giving Daniel Levy the chance to secure a reduced-price deal.
Despite their history as London rivals, Chelsea are willing to sell Gallagher to the Premier League side provided their £50million valuation is met.
But Spurs will know that the English foreigner could be available as a free agent next summer and, with no new contract on the horizon, Chelsea are running out of time to sell the indefatigable midfielder.
With their backbone consisting of Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Maddison and Son, a few more signings of his intensity could well return Spurs to the promised land of Champions League qualification.
