New plans have been revealed for a 24-story tower with an aparthotel and plenty of apartments for the “downtown approach. “
Forshaw developers have officially submitted plans to build the tower on vacant land near the Cornbrook Metrolink station, giving the assignment its name, Number 1 Cornbrook. If permission to make plans is granted, your neighbours will build, Vox Manchester.
Floors five to 23 of the proposed tower, which is 78 meters (255 feet) tall, will be apartments, with a total of 224 apartments planned. There will be 8 penthouses on its two levels, with a rooftop terrace available.

Underneath will be 87 studio aparthotels, from the first to the fourth floors. An aparthotel or aparthotel is a serviced apartment building where other people can book short or long stays. The aparthotel will be called Gateways, CGI suggests in the planning app. .
The call is due to the location of the site, on the A56, as it approaches the Chester Road roundabout and the city centre. It will be a “major component of the redevelopment that has taken place around Cornbrook,” according to architect Leach Rhodes Walker.
The company added in a design and statement: “This construction will complete the development of the parcel of land off Chester Road, as outlined in the framework document.
“The allocation was developed in collaboration with the City Council and we will provide high-quality front-end construction that will also serve to improve the domain for citizens and pedestrians around Cornbrook. “
It has already grown in recent years, with the opening of Vox Manchester in 2021 and the nearby Trilogy apartment complex, completed in 2019.
