Neymar signed an approval agreement with Puma, announced the German company on Saturday, two weeks after the Brazilian superstar left its sponsor Nike.
“Welcome to the @neymarjr #KingIsBack,” Puma tweeted next to a photo of Paris Saint-Germain’s striker, dressed in giant sportswear.
The world’s top player has shown his new role as the boy on the Puma poster in an open letter posted on social media.
“I grew up watching videos of wonderful football legends like Pelé, Cruyff, Eusebio and Maradona . . . who played in Puma.
“For these reasons, as of today, I have the honor of joining the logo that has helped football’s greatest legends be who they are,” he wrote.
Neither Neymar nor Puma gave main points of the duration of the contract or its value.
Speculation has circulated that the 28-year-old has signed with Puma since his approval agreement ended with Nike, the company that has sponsored him since he was a 13-year-old child prodigy.
News that an agreement had been reached was first published through the Brazilian sports online page Esporte Interativo, known for revealing the story of Neymar’s move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017.

Citing “exclusive information,” he said the main points of Neymar’s agreement and Puma’s first promotional appearances were expected “in the coming days. “
Neymar had to recommend that an agreement had been reached, Esporte Interativo said.
He recently followed Puma, PumaFootball and 8 other logo-related accounts on Instagram, and on Thursday posted a photo of himself giving the impression of being a statue of a cougar in the background.
Neymar’s most recent deal with Nike is supposedly an 11-year contract with a total value of $105 million.
