NFL groups give the hell more time on the road than they really need, going to a Sunday game site on Friday, or West Coast groups that stay on the East Coast for a week between games on the East Coast Highway. This year, the league doesn’t need groups to do that.
The NFL, according to the theory that groups are more provided to avoid an outbreak of COVID-19 in the comforts of their home than on the road, strongly urges groups not to stay on the road between games and not arrive two days before games in. According to Peter King in this week’s Football Morning in America.
So when the 49ers play the Jets in week two and the Giants in week three, they are told they should move from home between games, rather than simply staying in new York rule during the week to avoid two trips across the country. And West Coast groups play at 1 p.m. Sunday games on the East Coast head to their play sites on Fridays to have more time to acclimatize to the time change, however, they are told to travel on Saturdays this year.
This would probably be opposed to this through some West Coast coaches, who say they already have a downside to having to travel east. But if overtime at an unknown hotel made it more likely to cause an epidemic in a team, that’s a replacement the league deserves to do.
One way to do this is to make sure that all the games in which West Coast groups play in the east would be for games to start at 4pm.
