NFL Week 17: 3 Defenses To Add For The Fantasy Football Championship

After a long and exhausting season, we have officially reached week 17. If you are reading this, I can only congratulate you on your participation in the Fantasy Football Championship. However, entering the championship is enough, since you are betting. to win it all.

One of the most productive tactics to get ahead of your opponent is with your defense. I already talked about them before week 16, but if any of the defenses in this article are available, I highly recommend uploading them. To qualify for this list, each defender must be indexed at less than 50% on ESPN. With that said, we’ll take a look at the top 3 most productive defenses to climb in Week 17 of the fantasy football season.

The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the strongest defenses you can roster, and they’re absolutely my main priority this week. Through week 16, the Chargers are the 7th best defense on the year, averaging 7.7 PPG. They’ve been good against every single team they’ve played and should dominate a weak offense.

In Week 17, the Chargers face the New England Patriots, who allowed the fifth-most problems to opposing defenses with 9. 1 points per game. Although Drake Maye has shown impressive flashes, he has thrown 10 interceptions in 10 games. Coming from Maye, the Patriots are also seventh in sacks, which is helping the opposing defense tremendously.

Despite a tough 4-11 season, the Chicago Bears defense hasn’t been too bad in fantasy. They scored the 14th most points per game this season with 6. 4. Facing the Seattle Seahawks is a wonderful matchup as they allowed 9. 1 points per game to opposing defenses. due to a difficult season by Geno Smith.

Smith has taken too many sacks this year with 49 (fourth in the NFL), helping opposing defenses immensely. Smith’s negative plays don’t stop that, as he has thrown the second-most interceptions in the NFL with 15. Facing a quarterback who constantly gives up negative plays is the dream of a strong defense like the Bears.

The Miami Dolphins have been one of the worst defenses this season, ranking 27th in the NFL. Compared to the other defenses mentioned, they scored a measly 4. 5 points per game. However, the explanation why they are mentioned is due to their opposite game. to the Cleveland Browns.

During the 2024 season, the Browns have allowed the most points to opposing defenses by a large margin with 12 PPG. If you’re scared that Jameis Winston not playing will hurt the Dolphins, that’s not the case. Dorian Thompson-Robinson is arguably just as bad, throwing two interceptions and no touchdowns last week. The Dolphins have been a poor play for most of the year, but the Browns should force them into a solid week 17 performance.
