North Texas SC signed midfielder Nick Mendonca to a one-year deal with a club option through 2025. Mendonca was previously with MNUFC2 but was a free agent. Mendonca has made 23 appearances for the Loons 2, playing 1,856 minutes with assists in the 2022 season for MNUFC2. “Nick is a versatile, hard-working player who gives us flexibility on our team,” said North Texas SC head coach John Gall. “He arrived and demonstrated his worth with his determination and mentality. He is very competitive and brings the joy of MLS NEXT Pro to the group, while adding stability to our structure. The Miami local began his soccer career in the United States before moving to Brazil and joining Flamengo’s U-14 academy. Two years later he joined the Vasco da Gama Under-20 Academy, where he played for a year and a half. Mendonca returned to Miami to play for USL League Two side FC Miami City in 2021 before signing with MNUFC2. Mendonca represented the United States at the youth level, earning two call-ups to the U-15 and U-16 national teams.
