Notre Dame disrupts practices as campus faces larger COVID-19 cases

A day after Notre Dame’s football team gave him the green light to continue practicing through more restrictive COVID-19 protocols across campus, he voluntarily pressed the rest button on Wednesday.

And it may remain dormant on Thursday as a “wonderful precaution,” according to a member of the sports department.

Thus, from an Irish practice for the opening of the 9/12 season with Duke, the planned break gave campus managers the opportunity to answer questions and paintings about logistics.

And the announcement through the president of the university, the Reverend John I Jenkins, on Tuesday afternoon to move all the undergraduate categories from the campus in the distance over the next two weeks.

Other measures included in Jenkins’ ultimatum/decree included the requirement that all students staying on campus remain on campus. And all off-campus students, as is the case with most football players this year, will have to stay off campus until at least September 2.

Jenkins revealed at a live performance tuesday that he was first and foremost able to send all students home without delay for the rest of the semester. After consulting with St. Joseph County’s deputy health director Mark Fox, Jenkins opted for two weeks of online learning starting Wednesday.

While the number of instances and positivity rates showed no improvements at the end of this era (September 2), Jenkins said it would be his original concept of finishing home studies.

On Wednesday, Notre Dame reported 73 new cases in 355 tests. Although this is below the 82 reported effects (in 420 tests) on Tuesday that led Jenkins to act, the positivity rate (20.6%) was slightly higher than 19.5% on Tuesday.

Students began returning to campus on August 3 with fall semester categories starting August 10. Since August 3, 222 cases have been reported based on 1287 tests with a positivity rate of 17.2%, a number that has been higher for 8 consecutive days.

During its pre-registration tests, there were 33 positive tests in 11836 tests for 0.28% positivity.

Notre Dame admitted in a press release that the recent peak has exceeded the school’s exam capacity and is strengthening resources to cope with this increase.

The football team, in the last report, had a positivity rate of 0.64 since it arrived in mid-June for voluntary training. And this August 12 report included two positives recorded since the return of the students.

Before that, a football player had tested positive for his arrival and tested positive from the first test circular, for a total of 4 positives.
