Notre Dame football is expected to take part in school football playoffs at the end of the normal season.
Even though Notre Dame Fighting Irish had a calendar right with Brian Kelly, it will be appealing to see how the Golden Domers would play a 10-game CCA calendar amid a global pandemic. Well, the Irish have a 9-0 record overall and 8-0 in the CCA game in this unique season. What are the chances that the Irish have already secured a place in school football qualifiers?
Before the ACC championship game opposite the Clemson Tigers in a rematch in Charlotte, the Irish still have two convention games on the calendar: at home opposite Syracuse Orange on Saturday and Wake Forest Demon deaco on December 12. A big Orange favorite, the Wake Forest game can be tricky for the Irish.
Assuming Notre Dame beats Syracuse and Wake Forest, the Irish will have secured a place in the school football playoffs even before Clemson bets again. If Notre Dame were to defeat Clemson for a moment, the Irish would have a chance to take the top spot, depending on how the SEC Championship game moves between Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators.
While Notre Dame can definitely beat Clemson twice this year and completely eliminate the Tigers from the playoff image, many others expect Clemson to win the rematch in an unbiased location in Charlotte. at 11-1 during the year as ACC finalists, their résumées will be convincing enough to earn fourth place as a team with a defeat.
Simply put, Notre Dame is betting on school football playoffs for the time being in three years, as long as the Irish take care of the house business as opposed to Syracuse and avoid disappointing on the opposite path to Wake Forest. With an overall score of 11-0 and 10-0 in the ACC game, Clemson’s moment game result won’t matter, as the Irish come into play no matter what.
Two more wins at the convention and you can electronically book the Irish in school football playoffs.
