Elliott Anderson, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Chris Wood had a 3-0 run at halftime as they were ruthless.

But the Saints arrived here at the time, while Jan Bednarek withdrew a purpose, then Paul Unuachu scored a head in the time to do it 3-2. The saints almost happened 3-3, but Ola Aina made a line of purpose in the depths of 12 minutes of preventing time.

With the Victorias forest, go to the problems and to the point of GO with Arsenal, Southampton remains at the back of the table on six themes.

Nottingham Forest scored three goals from three shots on target in the first half, as their only three attacks of the half all ended in goals. Forest have been ruthless all season long and this game summed up why they can hang in there at the top of the table. There will be plenty of tight games like this ahead but when teams give Forest a sniff at goal they take it. Saints made two defensive mistakes and Anderson and Hudson-Odoi smashed home from distance. But the only issue for Forest is the drop-off when they do pick up a few injuries. Hudson-Odoi went off injured in the first half and Murillo went off in the second. If both are out for some time, that’s a big problem for Nuno Espirito Santo as they were very lucky not to throw this away as Aina’s goal-line clearance deep into stoppage time stopped it from being 3-3. Forest’s starting 11 and a few players off the bench can keep this run going but if Forest have to start digging a bit deeper into their squad, that is how this fairytale run could come to an end. Even if it does, a top six finish is still very achievable.

Nottingham Forest head to Bournemouth on Saturday, January 25. Southampton host Newcastle on the same day.

Anderson 11 ‘, Hudson-odoi 29’, Wood ‘; Bednarek 60 ‘, Uuachu 91’

Bednarek’s header is going in but somehow Ola Aina clears it off the line. What a clearance.

Surely not!? A corner is beaten and Onuachu returns the house to the post. He has his first purpose as a Southampton player. More than 10 minutes of 12 minutes of preventing time left.

Walker-Peters Fouette on a cross from a short loose kick and Uuachu’s head is driven through Selz. The saints grow a second.

After a play through Aribo, a corner is whipped and Selz saves him when Ugochukwu tries to have an effort in the goal.

A cross is overthrown and the wood is there, but it rolls the ball at a short distance. The forest has scored a room.

A loose kick flies and Milenkovic’s head is widespread on his own network through Ramsdale. A comedian error. But Var asks the referee Anthony Taylor to have a check and believes that the wood out of play and stood in front of Ramsdale before the error. Ramsdale is doing it with one.

A free kick is cleared and Ugochukwu’s shot towards goal is flicked on by Bednarek and it flies in to the top corner. That is a brilliant finish if he meant it! After a VAR check, he was just onside. 30 minutes to go and perhaps Saints have a lifeline?

Armstrong and Archer left with Uuachu and Sulemana. Manning is in the back to the left with Sugawara and Walker-Peters immediately. Souman right in the united man on Thursday.

A possibility for the forest because wood refers after a cross and Elaga efforts are stored through Ramsdale, then Bednarek clears. Ugochukwu arrived halfway to Downes, who had difficulties.

Just before halftime, the Saints still have some other blows. Walker-Peters is doing well to create area and fires with pole closure.

The saints once back so defensively. Aina whips a cross and the wood comes from home magnificently, Aibo leaves it without selection. Forest had 3 shots on purpose and scored with the 3.

Bad mistake of the saints while Bree plays Bednarek, who needs it and loses it. Hudson-odoi selects it and ends so well that it curls at home. So simple for the forest.

Sugawara’s cross is cleared by Murillo with Archer ready to finish, then Murillo clears a corner after it was flicked on. Then Fernandes gets on the end of a cross but his low shot is blocked. Saints have responded well to going behind.

That is so simple from Forest. A throw in is flicked around the corner, Anderson charges towards goal and his low shot beats Ramsdale.

Forest won 1-0 at St. Mary’s in Week 2, and will be heavily favored to gather 3 more problems at home. However, this: the 31. 02 xg of forest is 15th on the table, just 5. 5 off 17th position in Southampton. The difference lies in the defensive figures, where the Saints have left a league (by far) 57. 39 XGA. Stendingy Forest will feel smart about their chances of preventing the Saints and scoring multiple goals. They probably will. Forest 2-0 Southampton.

Forest is unbeaten in seven PL games and leaves a 1-1 draw with the leaders Liverpool. The men from Espirito Santo are third on the table, 4 problems from fifth position Chelsea and six problems from the top. Six problems are all Southampton with their names after 21 games this Premier League season, because First Russell Martin and now Ivan Juric are struggling to remove a juice from a moribund attack that has only produced thirteen league goals. Newly signed Juric saw the Saints go 0-0 down at Fulham on December 22, but their first 4 league games, so they have yet to produce a win and have only delivered two goals.
