Nottingham Forest are set to sign a Borussia Dortmund prodigy in a surprise loan to resurrect an injured career.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST will sign American Gio Reyna on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

Reyna’s current contract expires in June 2025 and he will be able to play football regularly.

Since missing the first month of the season through injury, the 21-year-old has made just two appearances for Dortmund, making 11 appearances off the bench.

However, Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo believes he can revive Reyna’s career at the City Ground.

He has the same super-agent as Reyna, Jorge Mendes, after the midfielder partnered with the Portuguese star author in December.

Reyna, the son of former Rangers, Sunderland and Manchester City star Claudio Reyna, is seen as a primary asset for Forest, as he can play as a winger or function as the number 10 in attack.

Forest hope to reach an agreement with Dortmund within 24 hours.

Reyna joined Dortmund’s academy from New York in 2019 and moved up to the senior level the following year.

In total, he scored 17 goals in games for the Germans.

Meanwhile, SunSport may reveal that Forest are also hoping to strike a deal for Trevoh Chalobah.

The defender is yet to arrive at Chelsea this season due to a long-term hamstring injury.

But Forest is willing to close a loan deal for Chalobah this month.

And they also want the option to make it permanent in the summer.

Chalobah would be the second Chelsea player to sign for Forest this season if a move goes through.

Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos joined them last summer on a loan deal.

But Chelsea called him up this month after making two appearances at the City Ground.
