DALLAS – Taco after taco, consumers continue to arrive hungry at the Oak Cliff Spinning Top and leave happy.
It’s a sight owner Luis Olvera thought he would never see again.
“I’m in seventh heaven,” Olvera said. It’s such a big feeling. “
Olvera closed his store last week because he had more than thirty thousand dollars in rent.
He blamed this basically on the emerging burden of food, supplies, rents, and poor business decisions.
Olvera’s idea that Trompo ended for good.
“I felt like the company had run its course. I did everything I could and it was just goodbye. “
Olvera sent out a video asking for help on social media. He also started a GoFundMe campaign and created pop-up events to raise the funds needed to stay open.
Olvera says the post gained “thousands” of posts, DMs, likes, and shares.
Trompo was soon flooded with donations, raising more than twenty thousand dollars in just a matter of days.
Enough budget to reopen the restaurant.
Olvera says the community has given him “a new lease of life. “
“It’s great to see that the network needs safe things and we don’t need to lose them,” says Monica Lopez, a member of the network and a visitor.
Loyal customers couldn’t wait to see the open sign back on Trompo’s doors.
“These are my favorite tacos,” says visitor Mark Sanchez.
“I was so happy for them,” says Perla Murillo, another loyal customer.
Olvera hopes to one day pay tribute to those who helped him.
“I would say I’m grateful to love the fact that I can repay everything I’ve been given. “
