Objectives | Manchester City 4-1 West Ham United

The First New Year’s game of West Ham United ended up with a 4-1 defeat in the Premier League against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Irons had an intelligent start at Etihad Stadium, approaching through Mohammed Kudus and Tomáš Souček, but fell when ten minutes were missing for the end.

There was a touch of luck in the opening of the citizens’ score, since Savinho’s half from the left deflected off Vladimír Coufal and left Alphonse Areola on the foot.

Three minutes before half-time, Manchester City brought a manpower to the contest. Again, Savinho got involved, sending a mocking cross for Erling Haaland to nod to the far house.

The Hammers’ task has become a practical seed 11 minutes after the restart when Haaland cut the areola to make it 3-0.

And two minutes later, thanks to Phil Foden’s shot.

Niclas Füllkrug pulled one back with 19 minutes remaining in Manchester, but it was too little, too late for the travelling east Londoners.

The highlights of the game should be in the video player above.
