Martin Odegaard tells how he’s adapting to life at Real Madrid this season.
The midfielder recalled his assignment at Real Sociedad after a remarkable season in San Sebastian.
Now, after Real Madrid’s first matches of the new campaign, he is with the Norwegian team as they prepare for matches against Serbia, Romania and Northern Ireland this month.
“First of all it was an idea that he would spend two years at the Real Sociedad, but Madrid called to tell me they wanted me back,” Odegaard told Norwegian media.
“It’s an herbal thing and it resolved quickly.
“There’s no drama. There’s no stir.
“I had the purpose and dream of playing there. “
In the absence of new additions this summer, Odegaard’s arrival in the first team is news for Zinedine Zidane.
“I talked to Zidane, yes,” Odegaard added.
“He and the club looked for me back and that’s how it happened.
“There was no tense discussion with the Royal.
“Madrid made it clear that they were looking for me and I had it as my purpose and as a dream [to play for them].
“They looked for it and we did it. “
In the first few games of this season, Odegaard later played with Zidane of what he was perhaps accustomed to at Real Sociedad.
“In fact, we haven’t talked much about my position, ” admitted Odegaard.
“I can play in other roles, in the middle of the park or more like number 10, where I played when there were two strikers.
“I can play on other systems.
“I’ll play where Zidane has to play, and if I get the chance, I don’t care where I play. “
Last week, Odegaard won the news that he had tested positive for coronavirus, but other tests showed the result to be incorrect.
“They gave me a little pressure and I have an idea of the coming matches, adding up with the national team,” Odegaard said.
“Everything [happened] in one night. Fortunately, it was a false alarm. “
