Mohammed Salisu has left Real Valladolid to join the Southampton Premier League on a four-year contract.
The centre-back had a first season at the highest level, acting brilliantly by replacing Fernando Calero in the genuine Valladolid baseline.
Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhuttl hopes the 21-year-old can expand into England.
“This is a signing for us,” Hasenhuttl said on his club’s website.
“Salisu is a one that adapts well to our profile.
“He’s young and has wonderful potential, but he also has the qualities to come and help the team as soon as he knows how we play.”
“I like what I’ve noticed about him so far in his matches with Real Valladolid.
“He’s strong defensively, he’s calm with the ball and he was also given a smart speed.
“I think it will have good compatibility with us and will be a position for you to expand your game further.
“We have smart central defenders here and that will be a smart choice for us.”
The player had his opinion on the transfer.
“It’s a great feeling to be a Southampton player,” he said.
“I am very satisfied to be part of the club and look here.
“Southampton is a club with a lot of history in the progression of young players, so it’s a very smart club for me to expand my skills and be very knowledgeable as a young player.”
