Official – Inter Milan launches Champions League knockout team – Canada star arrives, Italy and Colombia internationals leave | football

Inter Milan unveiled its Champions League squad on Friday night, following the signing of Tajon Buchanan in January.

The Nerazzurri comfortably secured their position in the round of 16, securing their qualification with two games in hand. Again. They still finished second in their organization, Real Sociedad.

The Round of 16 draw pitted them against Atletico Madrid and their longtime serving manager Diego Simeone who plied his trade at Inter Milan during his playing days.

But before resuming their European crusade on February 20, the Serie A giants already had their official squad for the UEFA round of 16.

Inter Milan announced the list through a statement published on the club’s official website.

Although he has yet to make his debut for the club, Buchanan has been given the light.

Simone Inzaghi naturally decided to include the Canadian international who arrived last month as a replacement for the injured Juan Cuadrado.

This explains why the club excluded the Colombian veteran from the team. The 35-year-old will be out for several months as he continues his rehabilitation process after undergoing surgery.

In addition, Stefano Sensi was also not retained.

The Italian came close last night to completing his move to Leicester City. However, the English club failed to close the deal in time.

The 28-year-old has already been left off the Champions League organizational roster, so this move comes as no surprise.

All in all, Inzaghi’s European squad remains intact, with the lone exception being the introduction of Buchanan in Cuadrado’s stead.
