England summoned Kalvin Phillips of Leeds United Harry Maguire to be retired
Leeds United prepares to announce a double striker as Manchester United ‘positions’ for a surprise deal – News 24
The 23-year-old was named to the Tartan Army for the doubles clash with Israel and the Czech Republic.
Lyndon Dykes, who rejected Australia to play for Scotland, is expected to usurp McBurnie in the hierarchy, the latter failed to score in nine appearances.
McBurnie, who was the greatest beloved Scottish player of all time when he joined United last summer, had a rough start in his overseas career.
Last September, he was forced to apologize to Clarke and the national team following the publication of a clip in which he gave the impression of misincing the Scottish setup.
McBurnie says his comments were absolutely taken out of context, but admitted that he was wrong, even joking about it.
Clarke believes that the striker, who scored six senior goals last season and earned credits for his performances, will still present himself to the Hampden faithful after an unfortunate opening.
He said: “We communicated a lot about Lyndon Dykes. We are a small Oli McBurnie, who had a fantastic first season in the English Premier League with Sheffield United.
“Oli is a wonderful player for them. I watched a lot of his matches and he did very, very well.”
“He hasn’t reached that height with the national team yet, but he’s been with the national team a little longer.”
“I don’t read the stick players get. I judge them through my own eyes and their merits. I think Oli did well last season and if he can take that form to the foreign stage, then he’ll be a wonderful player.” for Scotland now and in the future.
Blades goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and Doncaster Rovers Josef Bursik have been included in England’s under-21 team for upcoming matches in Kosovo and Austria.
This is the first under-21 for Bursik, ceded by a season by Stoke City.
Former Leeds United loan player Eddie Nketiah is also part of the team alongside Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ryan Sessegnon and Rhian Brewster.
