LYON, France – Olympique Lyonnais have extended the loan of Canadian defender Vanessa Gilles until June 2025.
Gilles has been drafted 34 times across Canada, totaling 31 starts. She is part of the team that won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. A mainstay of the Canadian defence, he is also an aerial hazard from set-pieces.
After playing at the University of Cincinnati, Gilles joined West Ottawa SC of the Ontario Ligue 1, before signing in early 2018 with Apollon Ladies FC of the Cypriot First Division. After being transferred to Girondins de Bordeaux in the same year, she transferred to Angel Cité in December 2021.
Gilles has already won 3 trophies with the OL, the Championnat de France, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Championnes.
