While some smaller school meetings have dropped out of the fall seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Power Five meetings are still discussing how to prepare schedules.
And according to Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News, the Pac-12 leans toward a 10-game schedule, only for the conference, which would begin in mid-September.
While this is an ambitious plan given that many schools offer online courses, it still represents a sense of optimism because it seems normal.
In the past, the Pac-12 canceled all non-conference games on July 10, the day after Big Ten raised the bar. The CCA, SEC and the big 12 are still making decisions on how to proceed.
They are still finalizing the plan and have booked the option of a nine-game season. But for now, they are expected to start on September 19 and camps to begin in mid-August.
“The challenge is that Utah and Los Angeles have very different situations; Washington and Washington state have very different situations,” he told The Mercury News. “So some of them will have public fitness officials.”
The plan also provides two weeks of license built into the program, giving them the flexibility to postpone. His convention championship game is scheduled to be played in Las Vegas on December 4. But the convention was also given the option for the next two weekends if necessary.
