In the women’s football tournament there are 12 groups divided into 3 groups of four. The top two teams in the group, plus the top two third-placed teams, advance to the round of 16. For the women’s tournament, the USWNT is the favorite, but it has a strong following in protecting World Cup champion Spain and hosts France. For the men’s football tournament, France (coached by Thierry Henry), Spain, the reigning European champions, as well as Argentina, South American and World Cup champions are the favourites.
