Paris 2024 Olympic Games: the Mirandé bastide is ready to host the Olympic flame on May 18

In 1992, Mirande had already had the honour of hosting this occasion of the Olympic Games in Albertville. This year, on May 18, the Olympic flame will return. The city’s associations and structures have mobilized with the city council to welcome it. be!

To give as many people as possible the opportunity to participate, the municipality has decided to invite all the associations of the Miranda basin to organize the animation of the day on Saturday, May 18.

A total of 18 associations and structures responded to the call, creating a diversified program. Here it is in detail.

The relay will cross part of the bastide, starting at 11:15 a. m. from the Mirande lawn in the city corridor to the sound of the Philharmonic Society. Then, it will pass through Boulevard Louis Laguens, Rue Pierre Delisle, Rue de l’Évêché, and end at the kiosk on Place d’Astarac, at 11:35 am.

Meanwhile, the “giant” wave of FC Mirandais, Astarac Football Olympique Loisir, the Astarac Youth Firefighters and the Miélan Hiking Club will take over the relay.

For lunch, Miranda’s restaurants will be available to gourmets. Starting at 3 p. m. , the “France-Belgium” match will be between Astarac Foot Olympique Loisir (AFOL) and Saintes-Tubize at the Haouré stadium.

From the beginning of the school year, the recreational centres of Mirande and Miélan took advantage of this opportunity to create special occasions around the Olympic Games in Paris: Olympics, introductory courses to Olympic sports, decorations, etc. He ventured to the countries in those Olympics.
