Some of the Patriots’ players saw their roles reduced Sunday in New England’s 33-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Gillette Stadium.
Let’s do the offensive and defensive counts for the Patriots and see what comes up.
OFFENSIVE SNAPSRG Shaq Mason: 52, one hundred percent LT Isaiah Wynn: 52, one hundred percent RT / RG Mike Onwenu: 52, one hundred percent C David Andrews: 52, one hundred percent WR Damiere Byrd: 48, 92% WR Jakobi Meyers : 41. 79% QB Cam Newton: 32. 62% WR Julian Edelman: 31. 60% RB Rex Burkhead: 25. 48% LG Joe Thuney: 25. 48% TE Dalton Keene: 24. 46% TE Ryan Izzo: 23 , 44% FB Jakob Johnson: 21, 40% RB Damien Harris: 21, 40% QB Jarrett Stidham: 20, 38% LG Hjalte Froholdt: 16, 31% RT Justin Herron: 12, 23% WR N’Keal Harry: 11 , 21% RB James White: 10, 19% WR Gunner Olszewski: 4, 8%
– Quarterback Brian Hoyer, offensive lineman JJ Taylor and adjusted finale Devin Asiasi were inactive and the reserve offensive on Korey Cunningham did not play.
– Meyers took over once Harry left the game with a head injury and the patriots’ maximum productive receiver.
– Newton replaced Stidham early in the last quarter.
– Edelman continues to play a small percentage of plays. He put a 13-yard pass on three targets. One of Newton’s three interceptions had to do with an Edelman target. The other two selections came here in shots of Meyers.
– The targets missed training on Wednesday and Thursday for non-injuries and on Sunday they only played 10 shots, it turns out that the maximum of normal targets went to Burkhead, who scored 3 passes in 4 goals for 35 yards and had 4 hauls for 12 yards. Blanc only had a three-yard catch in the game. It is understandable that White saw his role diminish after lacking practice time, but failed in the field.
– Thuney left the game early with an ankle injury and did not return. This led Onwenu from the right shot to the right guard, while Herron came in to play the right shot. When Herron suffered an injury, Froholdt arrived from the bench to play as a left guard.
– Keene, on his NFL debut, played more shots than Izzo, the Patriots’ tight starting winger. The third-round selection hit an eight-yard pass. to be objective.
DEFENSIVE SNAPSFS Devin McCourty: 66, one hundred percent CB Stephon Gilmore: 66, one hundred percent LB Ja’Whaun Bentley: 56, 85% S / LB Adrian Phillips: 55, 83% LB Anfernee Jennings: 53, 80% OLB John Simon : 49 Array 74% CB Jason McCourty: 44, 67% DT Byron Cowart: 42, 64% DT Lawrence Guy: 41, 62% DB Jonathan Jones: 38, 58% CB JC Jackson: 33, 50% DE Deatrich Wise: 30 , 45% OLB Shilique Calhoun: 28, 42% SS Terrence Brooks: 27, 41% DE Tashawn Bower: 27, 41% DT Nick Thurman: 23, 35% OLB Chase Winovich: 13, 20% DT Adam Butler: 13, 20 % LB Brandon Copeland: 11. 17% DE Derek Rivers: 10. 15%
– Deep Kyle Dugger (ankle), cornerer Myles Bryant and Carl Davis’ defensive take (brain concussion) were inactive. Defenseman Joejuan Williams, supporter Cassh Maluia and cornerer Justin Bethel played only on special teams.
Jennings, a third-round selection in 2020, played a leading role when the Patriots tackled the 49ers’ sharp offense. Jennings, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 259 pounds, shared his shots between the inner and outer supporter. He was given the time the Patriots needed on Sunday, but he probably still wouldn’t be in a position for an initial role.
– The number of slams through Cowart and Guy also reflects the Patriots’ preference to pass great defensively. New England averaged 1. 8 snap-consistent defensive tackles, above its season average of 1. 5 snap-consistent defensive tackles.
Jones and Jackson saw their shots reduced as the Patriots put more defensive tackles and supporters on the field. Both players have been among the most productive defenders in New England this season. Jackson didn’t aim and had an interception in just 33 shots.
– Bower, an education player who debuts with the Patriots, betting more shots than Winovich reveals. Winovich, who considered himself one of New England’s most productive defenders just three weeks ago, had played no less than 54% of the shots in the first 4 weeks of the season. He has played 34. 4 and 20% of shots in the last two games.
– Rivers suffered a back injury at the start of the game.
