Some notes and nuggets coincided with the San Francisco 49ers’ 33-6 bombardment of the New England Patriots on Sunday at Gillette Stadium:
– The Patriots lost 3 players injured in the defeat: N’Keal Harry Open Catcher (head), Guard Joe Thuney (ankle) and Justin Herron offensive take (ankle). All three left the game and did not return.
Thuney’s injury would be a slight sprained ankle, according to a report through Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, a clever news story for a player who has not missed a game in his five-year NFL career.
Before leaving Sunday’s game, Thuney, a momentary All-Pro team last season, had missed an offensive move since week 7 last season.
– Sophomore pro Jakobi Meyers replaced Harry on offense and was one of the few positives for New England, completing with four receptions in six goals for a 60-yard career record.
Meyers’ other two goals resulted in interceptions through Cam Newton, but neither succeeded in the young group.
Ten Patriots players made passes in the game, but only Meyers and running back Rex Burkhead (three for 35 yards) nailed more than one. Receivers Julian Edelman (three whites), Damiere Byrd (two whites) and Harry (two whites) ) ended with a reception.
– The Patriots replaced their tight completion intensity score for this game, exchanging a third-round rookie (Devin Asiasi) for (Dalton Keene).
Keene made his NFL debut after a series of four consecutive healthy stripes. Virginia Tech ended up with a catch on an eight-yard target and watched a long time as she toured with starter Ryan Izzo.
Asiasi, who has yet to achieve a purpose in this season’s matches, has been absent as a healthy scratch.
Slow start-ups have plagued the Patriots throughout the season. They scored only seven problems in the first quarter in six games, and came here with a selection of six Devin McCourtys in Week 2. The offense hasn’t scored in the first quarter yet.
New England scored a box goal for Nick Folk in the last quarter of Sunday, but failed to score a single touchdown. That hadn’t happened since 2016, when Jacothrough Brissett closed 16-0 through the Buffalo Bills.
– Speaking of Buffalo, the 2-4 Patriots of his Division start from 5-2 to 2 1/2 games in the East AFC. Next Sunday: a clash with the Bills in Orchard Park, New York.
New England will face the New York Jets without a “Monday Night Football” victory over the fearsome Baltimore Ravens at Gillette Stadium in Week 10.
