Patriots renounce corner and defensive before Cup day

With a day off, the New England Patriots eliminated two more of their 80-man list on Thursday.

The Patriots renounced cornerman Michael Jackson and gave up Michael Barnett’s defensive take on an injury name, according to the NFL industry cable.Mike Reiss of ESPN was the first to report the lineup movements.

Jackson showed his potential in the field after being acquired from the Detroit Lions by a conditional selection in the seventh-round draft, but a past injury to the field limited his participation.

The corner is also the most internal position organization in New England, along with Stephon Gilmore, J.C.Jackson, Jason McCourty, Jonathan Jones, Joejuan Williams and Justin Bethel, all likely to retain the places they occupied last season.

Barnett, who signed with the Patriots on August 24, injured his knee in practice last week and if he authorized the waivers, he will return to the injured reserve in New England.

The release of veteran open catcher Mohamed Sanu was also formalized on Thursday, leaving the Patriots with 77 players on their payroll, who will have to reduce that number to 53 to 16 heures.ET on Saturday.
