Peterhead aims to build on their merits at the top of League 2, says co-director Jordon Brown

Peterhead co-boss Jordon Brown wants his side to start cementing their lead at the top of League 2.

The Blue Toons are two things clear at best, with a game in hand against second-placed Dumbarton and hosting seventh-placed East Fife in Balmoor on Saturday.

It was Peterhead’s first game of the second quarter of the league, and Brown knew his team wouldn’t have to take their foot off the gas.

The player/co-director said, “We haven’t accomplished anything yet. We’ve reached this point and achieved our goal, but we know that doesn’t mean anything at this level of the season.

“We have to keep going and be at the forefront to put more issues on the board.

“We’re two things ahead with a game in hand, but we want to start creating those gaps and it’s up to us to start doing that starting this weekend.

“The next few weeks will be an era for us with back-to-back home games and then two tough away games against Stenhousemuir and the Spartans.

“In this league there are only 10 groups and if you win 3 or 4 games, you can move up 3 or 4 places, but it’s the same with defeats: you can get out of the play-off zone.

“The guys are motivated and we’re all looking to get back into the league and take the opportunity we have to solve more problems and stay on top. “

The home clash against East Fife is Peterhead’s first Ligue 2 game in four weeks, the last being a 3-1 win over Forfar.

Brown missed the game at Station Park due to the birth of his first child and is set to return to league action in Balmoor.

He said, “I missed that game with Sophia’s birth, so for me I feel like it’s been over 4 weeks already. I can’t wait to do it again.

“For the guys, we can’t wait to do it again. We finished the first quarter exactly where we wanted to be: on top, but it’s not over yet, so we’re in a position to get back to that. “Saturday. “

Since their last Ligue 2 match, the Blue Toons have played two cup matches: a 2-0 loss to Dundee United in the SPFL Trust Trophy and a 3-1 win over Clachnacuddin at the time of the Scottish Cup.

Brown believes those games have been valuable to Ligue 2 preparation, as they’ve noticed Blue Toon’s co-directors splitting the minutes between the team.

Brown said: “We’ve said it all this season, and we’re tired of saying it, everybody’s contributed this season and everybody’s here to be used.

“The team is wonderful and the putting fest is good.

“We were disappointed to lose to Dundee United, but I think it shows where they are and where we are. It was disappointing to end a five-game winning streak, but we’ve still won 4 in a row in the league and we’ll be looking to go higher on Saturday.

“Clac’s game is wonderful because he gives the boys minutes and in difficult conditions. Clach is fine.

“Everybody’s watching for it. We had a rebound game this week to make sure we didn’t have too big a gap between games.
