TORONTO (AP) Pablo Piatti scored twice and Toronto FC beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 on Tuesday night to resume the normal season.
Major League Soccer closed on 12 March by coronavirus, after league groups played only two games.
After the recent MLS is Back tournament in Florida, the groups returned to games in their home market. But the three groups in Canada are hampered by quarantine restrictions and regulations to and from the United States. Then, at least during the initial phase of the season, they will play against each other.
Toronto and Vancouver will open with back-to-back games at BMO Field, a meeting on Friday night.
Piatti’s long-distance explosion in the 27th minute gave Toronto the lead. It is the Argentine’s first purpose in MLS.
Piatti added a moment in the 55th minute. Nick DeLeon scored at 83 for the maximum margin.
Toronto remained undefees of at the organizational level of the MLS is Back tournament, but was eliminated in the 16th through NYCFC.
The Whitecaps lacked key players for the tournament, they also reached the knockout round, where they were eliminated through Sporting KC.
