EAST HARTFORD, Connecticut (AP) – Pablo Piatti scored head-to-head in the 89th minute to give MLS leader Toronto FC a 1-0 win over Atlanta United on Sunday at Pratt’s Rentschler Field.
Piatti redirected Richie Laryea’s front right at the time of publication.
Toronto (12-2-5) has won five of its last six games and is undefeated in its final games, a 3–2 loss to Vancouver on September 5.
Brad Guzan made saves for Atlanta (5-9-4), without winning in his last four games.
LOS ANGELES FC 1, TIMBERS 1, WAS
PORTLAND, Oregon (AP) – Teenager Christian Torres scored his first major league soccer goal in off time to give Los Angeles a draw against Portland.
Jeremy Ebobisse scored early in the part of the moment for the Timbers (9-5-4).
LAFC (7-7-4) had seven key players missing due to outside service and injuries, adding MLS’s most sensible scorer Diego Rossi and Brian Rodriguez, who played for Uruguay and is now quarantined, and Carlos Vela, who is recovering from a knee injury.
It is coach Bob Bradley’s 100th game with LAFC in all competitions.
TEAM 3, NYCFC 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Artur of Lima Junior and Pedro Santos scored and Columbus beat New York to break a four-game winning streak and secure a place in the playoffs.
Gyasi Zardes scored in the third minute of the discount time for Columbus (10-4-4).
Valenton Castellanos scored in the 55th minute for New York (8-8-3), a victory, with two losses, in his last three games.
ORLANDO CITY 1, RED BULLS 1, CRAVATE
HARRISON, N. J. (AP) – Brian White scored in off time, New York tied with Orlando.
Luus Carlos “Nani” Almeida da Cunha scored a penalty in the 56th minute for New York (7-8-4), which has won one in his last five games.
Orlando City (8-2-8), undefeated in 12 games, has a victory in his last five, secured a place in the playoffs after Toronto FC beat Atlanta United 1-0 the Sunday later.
DC UNITED 2 CINCINNATI 1
CINCINNATI (AP) – Chris Odoi-Atsem scored his first MLS goal, FC Cincinnati’s DC United striker.
Odoi-Atsem bounced after goalkeeper Robert Edwards’ stop created the rebound, scoring in the 78th minute.
Donovan Pines scored for DC United (3-10-6), which won for the first time since Sept. 2, a 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls.
Bradon Vazquez scored in the 66th minute for Cincinnati, which fell to 4-11-4.
DYNAMO 2, MINNESOTA UNITED 2, draw
St. PAUL, Minnesota (AP) – Niko Hansen’s goal in the 83rd minute helped tie Houston in the minnesota draw.
Memo Rodriguez scored in the 59th minute, Houston’s deficit (4-7-8) at 2-1.
Minnesota United (6-5-6) failed to capitalize on a quick start that included two goals in 19 minutes in the first half through Ethan Finley. It’s Finley’s time for multiple goals of the season.
EARTHQUAKES 0, SOUNDS 0, LINK
SAN JOSE, California (AP) – San Jose beat Seattle, but settled for a goalless draw and one point each.
The last time Seattle (9-4-4) closed on September 23 in a 1-0 loss on the way to Portland. The Earthquakes (6-7-6) have not scored in two of their last three games.
Guards James Marcinkowski of San Jose and Stefan Frei of Seattle were given a rescue.
GALAXY 1, WHITE 0
CARSON, California (AP) – Kai Koreniuk scored his first MLS goal in the 90th minute for Los Angeles to beat Vancouver and score a six-match losing streak.
LA (5-9-3), which beat the Whitecaps 18-7, ended a seven-game winless streak that ended with a 3-0 win over Los Angeles FC on September 6.
Jonathan Klinsmann of the Galaxy made four saves in his first SHUTout career in MLS in his appearance at the time.
Vancouver (7-12-0) has lost its last seven games.
