A legendary bakery venue related to Arsenal FC has closed its two London venues. Piebury Corner began life in 2011 as a stall in the front garden of its owners in Highbury, then opened its doors as a café on Holloway Road the following year. He gained a temporary cult with his combination of high-quality dishes of the day and references to north London football. A site at the moment, at King’s Cross, opened three years ago.
The restaurant’s owners, Paul and Nicky Campbell, turned to social media in their heartbreaking decision:
“Covid1nine has put us in a monetary position with the owners of any of the sites that is not yet easy to complete the hiring and all other constant overheads owed, so we will not reopen in our existing restaurants,” they wrote. “We thank all our unwavering painters for their harsh paintings for more than nine years and all those who have supported us.”
The news is a wave of pain on Twitter and Facebook. “Paul, Nicki, I’m very happy to read this,” Ian Wright wrote. ‘I’m sorry. Paul sends me a message if we can do anything to help. I send my love and strength, as well as all the staff. »
A small ray of hope: the owners are contemplating a post 100 yards away from Emirates Stadium. So, if God (or Arsene Wenger) needs it, you can still eat a lot Lee Dixon on game day, if your appetite requires it.
