TURIN, Italy (AP) – New Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo is ready to go back in time.
I want his players to have the same spirit and preference as the Juventus team in which he played under Antonio Conte.
“I will paint on the field but also in the human and mental aspect,” Pirlo said at his first press conference as Coach of Juventus on Tuesday.
“Perhaps we can achieve the same preference and understanding as the Juve de Conte. The spirit has to be that, he created a complete organization of values, I need to retrieve that DNA from paint and sacrifice.”
Pirlo has won 4 Serie A titles as a player with Juventus, adding 3 Conte.
Nicknamed “the master” for his passing skills, Pirlo won two Serie A titles and two Champions League trophies with AC Milan. He helped Italy win the 2006 World Cup.
Pirlo, 41, won his first training assignment last month when he was named starter for the Juventus under-23 team, which plays in Serie C, but did not lead a match before ascending to upgrade the catch. Maurizio Sarri.
“I didn’t have time to think about moving from the under-23 to the first team, all very fast,” Pirlo said. “I threw my head first, but if I made that decision, it’s because I’m convinced I’m in the right position at the right time.
“If I were destined to be in this bank, I would do it for the results. But I’m very convinced of my abilities”
Sarri fired after taking the Italian name after finishing his first season at the helm with the champions League side defeat to Lyon in the 16th circular.
Pirlo, who has been awarded a two-year contract, says he has already spoken to all his players, adding Cristiano Ronaldo, before taking the pace of his first consultation on Monday.
“I want to bring back the enthusiasm, which has been lacking lately, ” added Pirlo. “I have a positive football taste and a mastery of the game.
“I said two things to the boys yesterday, “You’ll have to have the ball “and “When you lose it, you have to get it back quickly.” These are two mentally vital concepts to get into the players’ minds. »
