SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Stephen Piscotty hit a grand slam tied in the ninth inning, a sacrifice lift from Mark Canha placed Oakland at the top of the tenth and athletics knocked out the San Francisco Giants 8-7 on Friday night in Game 1 of the Bay Bridge Series.
Oakland was left behind through five in the ninth inning, but recovered to earn such a deficit for the first time since July 15, 1952, according to STATS. The Giants had not lost after leading five or more runs in the ninth inning or more since June 25, 1929.
