“It’s like couples.”
That’s the number of Swingers of Houston Rockets, PJ Tucker, who says it is packed for their permanence in the NBA Disney World bubble. Tucker doesn’t expect his career near Orlando, Florida, to be short. “I’ll be here for a minute, ” said Tucker to B/R Kicks.
Recently, the nine-year-old NBA veteran teamed up with eBay to present his sneaker loft, where he sells a collection of shoes ranging from 700 to 1,000 pairs. Your essential platform to buy shoes? “Everywhere. Everywhere.” This means via email, direct messages, anything.
What makes eBay different?
“The ability to locate Grails is much broader,” Tucker says. ‘You just think, ‘Oh, I forgot’ and you see a pair there. I feel like you have a better chance of locating pairs, so anywhere else.
Tucker is in his fourteenth season as a professional player (five of whom have spent them abroad) and feels that fewer and fewer players are interested in shoes. “There are so many who, on the other hand, love shoes,” Tucker says. “Everyone loves hype. That’s great.” But Tucker sees that the pastime for shoes and bending over the box has moved to the men’s way of dressing. “That’s where the game really went. Kids aren’t really looking for the shoes they like. It’s just different.”
That doesn’t mean Tucker’s old-fashioned.
“Best dressed in the NBA?” Tucker says. “I’d say me and Russ [Westbrook]. He understands.” Westbrook has his own clothing line called Honor The Gift, which recently partnered with the National Basketball Players Association to design T-shirts with social justice messages that have not been approved for NBA jerseys.
However, the occasionally NBA fashion show has not been interrupted in the NBA bubble. Several stars – LeBron James, Donovan Mitchell, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid among them – have introduced new exclusive shoes. For Tucker, there’s more room for high-scoring athletes:

“No, no, no. Never. It’s like someone’s dream. I don’t think you can have enough guys in branded shoes … I think there’ll be more.”
Tucker himself has long played with Kobe Bryant’s sneakers, which pay attention to detail that other shoes lack. “The Kobes are the most productive hoop shoes of all time,” Tucker says. “Kobe understood the ability of basketball. And he gathered everything from the sole to the cut. Every little detail he put his center into.” Your favorite? It may not have been decided, but “especially from 1 to 6. It’s almost unbeatable.”
No matter how deep Tucker and his Rockets are in the playoffs, it’s transparent that reigning NBA Sneaker King is ready for the bubble. Stay tuned for what you’ll wear in the playoffs.
