Police: Florida man fatally shoots his double brother

GULFPORT, Fla. – A guy from Florida shot and killed his double brother while joking in a van, the government said.

Thomas Parkinson-Freeman, 23, was arrested Monday morning and charged with murder, according to Pinellas County jail records.

Parkinson-Freeman and his brother Mathias were sitting in the vehicle parked at their home in Gulfport on Sunday night, according to a police report. Gulfport is west of St. Petersburg.

The brothers and a friend were talking and joking when Mathias pulled out a gun and pointed it at his brother, the investigators said. Thomas responded by pulling out his own pistol, which shot and punched Mathias in the face, to the report.

When questioned through detectives, Thomas Parkinson-Freeman told them that he did not aim to hurt his brother and that he did not pull the trigger. Without delay, he initiated first aid after the shooting, police said.

Investigators concluded that there was no intention of devoting murder and that the victim had died of culpable negligence, according to the authorities.

Parkinson-Freeman was released Monday on a $30,000 bail. Criminal records did not mention an attorney for him.
