NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa is convinced that Arsenal have weaknesses that they can exploit in the Champions League encounter on Wednesday night.
The Portuguese giants host the Premier League in the first leg of their round of 16 this week, with the second leg taking place in north London on March 12.
As expected, Mikel Arteta’s team are favourites for this draw, which Costa does not play but knows that they are not the best and intends to make the most of their weaknesses.
“We expect a strong Arsenal and I can assure you that we will do everything possible to make Arsenal make a dent and make them feel what FC Porto is,” Costa told a news conference on Tuesday.
“We’re ready for whatever Arsenal can do, both offensively and defensively. Each has their weaknesses, they have not yet faced FC Porto and they will have their difficulties.
“They’re a very offensive team with some weaknesses that we’re going to exploit to the maximum and we’re going to do everything we can to get the win.
“They have weaknesses, of course, I probably wouldn’t say what they are, but I assure you we will do everything we can to win. If they’re favourites, they have to prove it. “
Arsenal are in excellent form after winning five games, while Porto have won just one of their last three games.
However, Costa says they are used to the tension of having to win against whoever they face and it is none other than the English team.
“A team like FC Porto plays to win, each opponent has its own price and we will never look at them any other way,” he said.
“Our thinking is the same when we play against Arsenal or Arouca, with all due respect. Against Arouca we have a legal responsibility to win and Arsenal have to win as well. “
