FC Porto 4-1 Vizela
FC Porto bounced back from their midweek Champions League exit with a home performance against a ten-man Vizela, beating the relegation hopefuls 4-1 at the Estádio do Dragão on Saturday.
The night with some fear in which captain Pepe put the visitors ahead with an own goal that left him and his goalkeeper, Diogo Costa, in a state of confusion.
A second yellow card for Matias Lacava de Vizela in the 49th minute was the comeback, but goals from Francisco Conceição in the 55th minute and Pepê in the 68th contributed to the comeback.
Evanilson stepped in to score Porto’s third goal of the game before Toni Martinez, with a minute remaining, added the finishing touch to the overall victory.
The big news for the Dragons is the addition of Alan Varela, who avoided a dismissal following his injury against Arsenal on Tuesday night to allow Sérgio Conceição to reiterate his starting eleven.
Porto were strong with Francisco Conceição on the flank, but Dragão had a crippling temporary turnaround after Pepe deflected a low cross from Samuel Essende into his own net in the 17th minute.
Surprised by a goal against, it was only in the second half that the Blue and Whites were able to react, fuelled by a second yellow card to Lacava for a persistent foul that left Vizela with ten men.
The center of it all, Conceição, took over Porto after having enough time to intervene with his favorite foot and equalize in the 55th minute.
Evanilson threatened Vizela twice, making a great save from Fabijan Buntic before also hitting the post at either time to sign a strong tackle for the hosts.
Pepê, the guy who held the key to Porto’s comeback, overcame the offside trap and grabbed a pass from Danny Namaso before firing low over Buntic in the 68th minute.
Evanilson scored the goal in the 77th minute, after a point-blank shot by Otávio, first finished off by Vizela’s goalkeeper and finished from close range.
The match was due to another intervention by the Porto striker, which this time Martinez took advantage of, as the score went up to 4-1. Porto’s win leaves Benfica on two points, who face Casa Pia away from home on Sunday night.
