PRAGUE (TND) – Czech police say a grenade that allegedly pierced a man turned out to be a “dummy grenade. “
The incident happened in the IP Pavlova Square in Prague Friday.
The police message read: “The blockade on the position has ended. According to the pyrotechnician, it is simply a fake grenade. “
No additional details about the incident have been released at the time of publication.
The security alert comes a day after a gunman opened fire at a Prague university, killing 14 people.
It has been described as the worst MassArray in the country.
The bloodshed took place at the construction of the philosophy faculty at Charles University, where the attacker was a student, Prague police chief Martin Vondrasek said. The attacker was also killed, the government said. His call has not been published.
Vondrasek said in the evening that 14 people had died and 25 were injured, after earlier reporting that 15 had died and 24 were hurt. He didn’t explain the change. Authorities warned that the death toll could rise.
Police did not give any details about the victims or the possible motive for the shooting at the construction site near the Vltava River in Khan Palach Square. Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan said investigators do not suspect any links to any ideology or extremist group.
